Ponder Prayer
Welcome Little One
Holy One

So much has been said about you already
So much to take in

How can I hold you?
How can I hold you and all that you are?

Make by heart your baby book
There to gather all the names
the stories
the promises
There to pause and ponder
the silent snapshots
Treasuring you as you treasure me
Keeping them safe for times to come

Prayer: Rekindle the Gift (2 Timothy 1:6)

light-matchThis prayer was adapted with permission from a post by Steve Garnaas Holmes on his wonderful site, Unfolding Light. A single voice reads the regular print while all present read the bold print. (2 Timothy 1:6) Consider following this liturgy with each person lighting a candle or striking a match. – Lisa <><

You have a treasure in you,
a seed of glory planted from stars,
a song written for only you to sing.
You have gifts to give.

The treasure is buried,
and it may take some digging to recover.
The song is forgotten,
but still hidden in your bones.

Rekindle the gift of God that is within you.

Nothing that happens to you
can remove it, no fear or shame
destroy it, no failure ruin it.
It is who you are.

Rekindle the gift.
Listen for the quiet voice,
the Spirit of Life
singing in you.

Rekindle the gift of God that is within you.

Listen… and sing.
Tune your life to its melody.
Let it sing in you,
let it sing you into life.

Rekindle the gift
that is God within you.
Give God this joy— for it is
God who is singing.

Rekindle the gift of God that is within you.

Friendship Prayer (Sirach 6.14-17)

prayer group handsSirach 6:14-17
Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter:
Whoever finds one has found a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price;
No amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
and those who fear the Lord will find them.
Those who fear the Lord direct their friendship aright,
for as they are, so are their neighbors also.

Holy One, come
Help me to be this kind of friend
Faith-full
Sheltering
A Treasure Beyond Price
Life-saving Blessing and Balm

Let people find this in me
Because you are within me
Because you are this for me

Let me find this in others
For you are with and within them as well
You are this for us all

What Must I Do? a prayer based on Matthew 19.16-22

Based on Matthew 19:16-22,
Jesus and the Rich Young Ruler.

Lord, what must I do?
What must I do to truly live,
to live forever?

There are better questions beloved
Better questions which bring better answers

How shall I love?jm_200_NT2.pd-P20.tiff
Honor the sacred gift of life
Honor committed relationships
Honor what belongs to others
Honor the truth

Who shall I love?
Honor family
Honor the other

See the richness of God’s blessing
daily bread and daily companions

See the preciousness of life
all life, every life

Treasure people as God treasures you
especially those who are unlike you
especially those far from comfort and influence
Love them more
Love them most
Love your neighbor as yourself

Expand your soul
Open your arms
Empty your purse
Let nothing keep you from the fullness of love

Lord hear our prayer
Lord make it so

Find us and Flood us (2 Corinthians 4)

praise-and-worship-worship-danceBased on 2 Corinthians 4:7-15

The power is from you, Glorious One
An extraordinary power to persevere
and to speak

It comes to my mortality
to my frail clay
to my dust
You hold me and wash me and form me
that I may carry your power as it carries me

O the glory of your grace
Grace extending more and more
more and more to me and more and more through me to others
Your Spirit of faith and life flowing, flooding…

Find us, glorious one
Find us all for we are your treasure
Find us and raise us from the earth
that we may dance at your throne
that we may sing and shout our thanksgiving
to the honor and glory of your name forever
Amen!
