Honorable, a prayer based on Romans 12.16-18.

broken mended pot bowlBased on Romans 12:16-18, The Voice Translation

Heavenly Father, I am unworthy of the grace and favor you extend. Yet, you name me and move in me so I may be all you aspire. My heart and hands are open to receive and be.

Finish your work in me. Create in me an honorable soul- honest, principled, generous, virtuous, noble.

Bring together this failed clay in integrity, able to hold together harmony and peace in our broken world. Make me whole, able to bear your will and truth and mercy. Re-member me, now a surer vessel of your Spirit, surrendered to your every hope and purpose.

Hallelujah, to the One who heals!
Hallelujah, to the One who redeems!
Hallelujah, Amen!

A Steward’s Prayer (Matthew 24.42-51)

wesley do all you can
Based on Matthew 24:42-51

Son of man, my Master and Lord
You entrust me with responsibilities
With authority and influence
With your treasure and blessings
Thank you for the honor

Help me to be humble and strong and loving and wise
With all you have entrusted to me
Help me to care and tend as you would yourself
So your arrival is a time of great rejoicing
So you find me awake and alert
Caring for the people and projects and possessions
To the best of my ability, magnified by your grace

May my every word and action be faithful to you
May they bring you delight and honor
Now and always, Amen

What Must I Do? a prayer based on Matthew 19.16-22

Based on Matthew 19:16-22,
Jesus and the Rich Young Ruler.

Lord, what must I do?
What must I do to truly live,
to live forever?

There are better questions beloved
Better questions which bring better answers

How shall I love?jm_200_NT2.pd-P20.tiff
Honor the sacred gift of life
Honor committed relationships
Honor what belongs to others
Honor the truth

Who shall I love?
Honor family
Honor the other

See the richness of God’s blessing
daily bread and daily companions

See the preciousness of life
all life, every life

Treasure people as God treasures you
especially those who are unlike you
especially those far from comfort and influence
Love them more
Love them most
Love your neighbor as yourself

Expand your soul
Open your arms
Empty your purse
Let nothing keep you from the fullness of love

Lord hear our prayer
Lord make it so

Scripture: Matthew 6:5-15

The Lord’s Prayer informs, forms, and transforms us and the world. – Lisa Degrenia

We have no idea of how to live until we first know who God is.
So when we say that God’s name is holy, that tells us how we ought to live.
Knowing the Creator tells us where the creation is meant to move.
– Will Willimon and Stanley Hauerwas, Lord Teach Us- The Lord’s Prayer and the Christian Life

Hallow has two meanings
1) To holy-fy and honor
2) To make known, reveal

If you claim to be a child of God, a follower of the Risen Christ, live like it and pray like it.
– Lisa Degrenia

Matthew 25:37-40
37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’

Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
