You lavish upon us a glorious inheritance
It flows from your abundant love
We are made rich in your great mercy and grace
Pour it out again and again and again
for the healing of the nations
Your spirit of unity
Your spirit of wisdom
Your spirit of revelation
Enlighten the eyes of every heart
with your hope and your power
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead
Pour it out again and again and again for the healing of the nations
This prayer was born from the Ephesians Reading Challenge. Click Here for more information on the challenge to read and reflect on the entire book of Ephesians 3 times in 3 weeks.
The Ephesians Reading Challenge accompanied a sermon series entitled Sit Walk Stand which was inspired by Watchman Nee‘s bookSit Walk Stand, a study of Ephesians. You will find recordings and notes from this series on the blog as well.
Your covenant is steadfast
Your promises are true
You fulfill, even when we fail
Forgive us and renew a right spirit within
We hear you offering relationship again
How great is your heart
Your desire for the everlasting to be made real in us
We bow in awe
We stand to proclaim and welcome
Fulfill your desires in our Yes
Fulfill your desires in our obedience
Like the sand, so many brothers
Like the stars, so many sisters
Together heirs of your grace and generosity
Together heirs and family
Our home is in you
Based on Genesis 17:3-9
God’s covenant with Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants (physical and spiritual)
Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter:
Whoever finds one has found a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price;
No amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
and those who fear the Lord will find them.
Those who fear the Lord direct their friendship aright,
for as they are, so are their neighbors also.
Holy One, come
Help me to be this kind of friend
A Treasure Beyond Price
Life-saving Blessing and Balm
Let people find this in me
Because you are within me
Because you are this for me
Let me find this in others
For you are with and within them as well
You are this for us all
This prayer was inspired by the song Who You Say I Am by Hillsong.
The world wants to tell us who we are
You tell us something different
You name us Beloved, Blessed
Son, Daughter, Heir
You name us Child of the King
One who has Received Mercy
You name us Light, Salt, Hope, Grace
A Priesthood of Believers
You name us and
Nothing the world throws at us can change what You have said
So we place our trust in You
We honor You
We glorify your Holy Name
Help us to live a life
Worthy of the name you died to give us
Help us live a life
Worthy of the prayer you have given us
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen
Heavenly Father, Mother
You understand the heartbreaks of parenting
Children far from home
We wonder and we worry
It’s torture not knowing
But you know
You are near to them and to us
Protect and Provide
Encourage and Empower
Bring wisdom and light
That we may love as you love
That we and they will make good choices
That we will see and hear you and each other
That we will be one as you are One
Parent, Child, the Love Between
Sermon Series – Jacob, Punk to Patriarch Jacob’s journey to faith and accepting his place in God’s plan is full of schemes, betrayal, and family dysfunction. Yet, in the midst of the mess, God remains steadfast- offering relationship, provision, purpose, and new life. In Jacob’s story, we see our own mess and God’s saving grace for us as well.
Your dreams are both powerful and rebellious. They are not bound by your fears, inertia, pain, or what your grandmother said about you. They don’t have to fit your cramped idea of who you think you are. They don’t have to be reasonable, nor do they have to please your parents, your boss, or the church. They are free to take you to interior places you can’t imagine and challenge the way you run your life—and the way your life runs you.
They can be outrageous, daring, playful, zany, sexy. They speak truth as they point to your particular needs for growth. They highlight the changes you are now strong enough to make. Your dreams are full of parts of you that you have denied, disguised in your own easily decipherable dreamcode. Best of all, your dreams are a venue in which God’s presence can be discerned. Your dreams are free to express your natural human spirituality even if you are turned off to organized religion. – Tilda Norberg, The Chocolate-Covered Umbrella
The prayer following the message isTurn and Return by Lisa Ann Moss Degrenia
We Fall away
Go our way
Lose our way
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your Presence?
Hound dog tracking
Brood Hen gathering
Father waiting… praying… hoping… looking… running… embracing
Our turning and returning
