Prayer: Carry Me (Isaiah 40:9-11)

shepherd carry lambIsaiah 40:9-11 NKJV
O Zion, You who bring good tidings, Get up into the high mountain;
O Jerusalem, You who bring good tidings, Lift up your voice with strength,
Lift it up, be not afraid;
Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!”
Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand,
And His arm shall rule for Him;
Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him.
He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.

Carry Me by Steve Garnaas-Holmes
River of God,
carry me
to your sea of blessing.

Breath of God,
bear me
on your brave wind.

Earth of God,
carry me
in your gentle bosom.

Light of God,
bear me
on your strong hands.

Beauty of God,
carry me
without my knowing.

Love of God,
carry me,
carry me.

I’m incredibly grateful for the poetic, prayerful ministry of Steve Garnaas-Holmes. His work is full of the beauty, mystery and wonder of God, yet rooted in the honest, often painful realities of life this side of heaven. You’ll find his work at his blog at Unfolding Light.
